There’s also a good essay in the Chuck Klosterman book Sex, Drugs & Cocoa Puffs about newspapers. He goes through a couple of scenarios that are fairly commonplace, like using the bathroom and missing a call, and how that can have huge consequences on when a story runs, if it has a good quote and how that all gets perceived by the public.
