    That would be a really handy device up in the mountains. Whenever do manage to get a acmping/hiking trip together, we never really know where we’re going on a hike. Not a big deal, but we hedge our bets occasionally because we don’t want to get too far off course, or too far out to not make getting back a drag. This would totally allow me to map out some territory ahead of time, but the battery thing, and the cost on top of that, make me wonder if I’d get the full value out of it.

    I think the batteries last for 12 hours or so. You actually don’t have to leave it on the whole time, I think the battery life would be fine for camping.

    and I just got it hooked up to my computer (finally). Look for a lot more google maps soon.
